Ode to The One I Love

Yukti Khera

The lover of mine tore me apart
He, a charming man with a smile to kill for
Sinful yet innocent
Filled with passion to love me all
Wanting and waiting with the vulnerability
Desires with troublesome memories

The lover of mine tore me apart
He, a troubled soul with hopes to live
Content yet uneasy
Persistent to have me all
Dying with the longing
Thirst for loving

The lover of mine tore me apart
He ripped my soul from within me
Kept it with himself
He wanted to set me free
But he didn’t do it too well
Practice makes a man perfect but it never did

The lover of mine tore me apart
He tried to put my pieces together
And again and again
But he seemed to lose the picture
Whenever he tried to mend
Needed to shatter all my heart

The lover of mine tore me apart
He loved me so deeply
That I feel ruined
He loved me so intensely
That I broke
That I wanted a stroke

The lover of mine tore me apart
He made me abide
He cried and cried
I wanted to mend
But I clobbered us to the roots
Still ever and never it would end

The lover of mine tore me apart
His love still wanders inside me
His eyes still see me transparently
Even though he’s no where around
His touch still chills me
Being under his spell is what’ll kill me
